We made it! We are starting October off a little differently! We have been dealing with heavy topics and we may need a break! (I know I do!).
I have always liked horror movies and I'm really starting to explore this genre of fiction. I don't want anything gory, but I want something different from my normal reading genres. So here we go!

Invitation
I invite you all to listen to the novel The Black Girl Survives in This One by Desiree S, Evans (editor), Saraciea J. Fennell (editor), and Tananarive Due (Introduction). I sat down and thought of all the horror movies I have ever seen and I realized that none of the horror movies had a Black woman as the main character. Why is that? Is it because Hollywood decided Black women couldn't star in a movie that would be a box office hit? Is it a reflection of how society devalued Black women as not worth saving?
I listened to the Foreword and processed what it was saying. It is so many ideas presented about the lack of representation of Black women as main characters in the horror genre.
I'm going to listen to it on Audible and see how it goes! I invite anyone and everyone to read/listen to this book. At the end of the month, we can post our views of the book.
