If you are like me, you have heard, read, or seen information about Project 2025 and the plan it has for our country. Over 900 pages, this book outlines the vision of what some people have for the future of our county. If you don’t know about this and want to know exactly what it is, click on Project 2025 to read more information. Also, for a breakdown, click The REIDOUT which Joy Reid discusses Project 2025 on her show.
While people should read and educate themselves on Project 2025, there is another project I would love everyone to consider; The 1619 Project work created by Nikole Hannah-Jones.

This powerful book is a series on Hulu. Click below.
This book examines not the effects of slavery but it acknowledges the contributions African-Americans continue to give to our country. This book is so powerful, it has a Children's picture book as well. EVERYONE should know the history and its effect on our present so we can help share our future.
The 1619 Project has been banned in certain states’ K-12 curriculum. You can read more about this in the articles Fear, Florida, and The 1619 Project and Lawmakers Push to Ban ‘1619 Project’ From Schools.
Before you can change a society, you must acknowledge the weaknesses of the society to bring out true change. The 1619 highlights atrocities done in the past and how it is affecting our present. Because it has gained negative publicity and is banned from certain states, what message is that sending to people of color and our Black youth?
Dr. King made the statement in his "I Have a Dream" speech, "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." (https://www.gilderlehrman.org/sites/default/files/inline-pdfs/king.dreamspeech.excerpts.pdf)
He wanted his four children to be acknowledged for being Black in America but not judged because of their skin color or race.
When a person's race or culture is not recognized, what message does that send? I see, acknowledge, and respect all people because that is what I expect in return. God loves variety! Looking at his "projects”' and creations of the various types of flowers, animals, etc. how can people not acknowledge the beauty in diversity?
