Can you believe we are headed into the last week of August? If you have been reading the book The Garden Within by Dr. Anita Phillips, you may be finishing up the book soon. I have TRULY enjoyed reading this book and relating the elements of a natural garden to our emotional well-being.
One truth Dr. Phillips revealed in the book is the idea that self-care is soil care (pg. 70). We have established that the heart is the soil of our garden. We have to tend to our garden by monitoring and guarding our soil (heart). How do we do this? Self-care!
The first topic Soul Literature Blog discussed in January was self-care. We have been tending to our hearts from the very beginning of the year! If you have not already started your self-care journey, start TODAY! I highly encourage you to read books that discuss the importance of self-care and suggest ways to implement self-care into every area of your life.
It is never too late to begin making yourself a priority. Start doing small activities you enjoy to prepare your soil. If we want our garden to grow and flourish, it is imperative that we prepare our hearts so our garden can produce fruit.
What activities to you plan to do for you this week to help make your heart fertile? What regenerates your creativity? What renews your strength? Let's not just talk about it but let's be about it. Enjoy!
Walking, bowling, and enjoying the view from a rooftop are my favorite self-care activities. I aim to walk daily and participate in the other two activities monthly. If you're looking for me, lookup I just might be on a rooftop somewhere.
