In my last blog, I talked about how important it is to find your tribe - have your community. I believe that! I also believe you have to PROTECT YOUR ENERGY! Not everyone deserves to be in your inner circle. Just because you know my name or heard things about me doesn’t mean you know me. People who encourage and nurture you and your dreams should be in your energy. Not everyone who calls themselves “friends” is your friend. People who would support you in your endeavors and call you out ( in love) when you’re wrong should be in your inner circle.
I think of Jesus. The people who called out “Hosea” one day are the same ones who flipped the script and said “Crucify” not too long after the accolades. You can’t get caught up in the accolades of people in general. However, your tribe, your community, should be the ones rallying for you.
Tabitha Brown addressed this in her book I Did a New Thing: 30 Days to Living Free. I believe Tabitha Brown is down to earth and honest in what she says and does. In “Day 11: Do Something Hard but Necessary,” she speaks about starting relationships and the power of building community. However, she also wrote about how she made necessary changes in those relationships. “Sometimes you have to be ready to close a chapter in your life no matter how amazing it used to be.” People and situations change and we have to adapt to survive and thrive. When the dynamics of the group change, it’s okay. Let the changes happen so everyone can be at peace.
